Emission

What is an Emission Map?

An emission map is a greyscale image that tells IMVU Studio what parts of your image you want to glow, and by how much.

What about color?

The color still comes from the Diffuse map, the Emission map is just a map of intensity.

How Much Is Too Much?

If you put a fully white texture as your emission map, everything will look blown out, and you will not be able to control the intensity easily. Conversely, if the whole texture is black, nothing will be emissive, no matter what you do.

We suggest using greyscale values in your emission maps, and controlling how intense they are with the “Emission” Slider from the “Inspector” Tab.

Remember!

You must enable the “Emission” toggle from the Inspector tab to get any emission to show up.
