Questions & Answers

(Verbal answers are recorded in the video)

Q: In the prop animation demo you showed how to take one step, if you wanted it to take 5 steps you would have to repeat this 5 times?, or is there an easy way to repeat an action?
A: You would continue to add frames for more steps. I used 50 frames, but there is also a slider to add more frames in the toolkit

Q: How can I create poses or groups in IMVU Studio?
A: For poses you can follow the tutorial here: https://create.imvu.com/articles/studio/toolkit-blender/#creating-an-avatar-animation. There are videos coming soon which will be on the same webpage.

Q: Where do you get the toolkit for the IMVU avatar?
A: https://create.imvu.com/articles/studio/toolkit/. There are install instructions on this page. If you are new to Blender, I highly suggest checking out some YouTube tutorials on the program. I like BlenderGuru personally.

Q: What is aliasing?
A: It helps edges look smoother. If you imagine a diagonal line, it is normally a staircase since you are limited to pixels. Antialiasing adds a gradient to the edge to appear like it is higher resolution.

Q: How can I make a derivation of couple poses of groups 3, 4, 5, etc.?
A: Right now, the toolkit can only do single avatar animations. I have not explored multiple avatar poses. You could make a few poses in one file, then export them all in one fbx file. They would not be interacting with each other, but you will get multiple poses in one file.

Q: How can we control how far local ambient color’s length it reaches? Does local ambient light work in Classic Client?
A: It is basically looking at the room from the point where the avatar is seated. The effect is calculated automatically. Ambient light is not available in the older platforms.

Q: Can you preset these rooms so your avatar does not take on a local ambient light color?
A: Local Ambient is set per room product. If your default room has if off then it will remain off for that room.

Q: Will there be a way at some point to save your outfit creation in IMVU Studio? For example, when I put an ensemble together and take photos I lose it when I close IMVU Studio.
A: We are working on Inventory management control, which would include saving your “Look” in IMVU Studio. In the mean time, you can create and save looks on IMVU Desktop or Mobile.
