Making a Carved Face on a Pumpkin Head

Just follow the instructions below to get the scariest pumpkin head.

  ○ Pick your design tool

As you did before, you will use either Photoshop    or Gimp   to carve a face on a pumpkin.

Click on one of the links below to get started. Completing this step is required before moving on to “Get your pumpkin”.

  ○ Get your pumpkin

Let’s see how your avatar looks with your personalized pumpkin head. To do so, you need to open the project where you saved it.

Open the IMVU Desktop App and Log In. Click on the Create button.

Click on the Open a Local Project button.

The Open Panel enables you to browse your projects that are already in progress.

When you click on the Open a Local Project button, your “IMVU Projects” folder will open.

Select the shirt CHKN file and click Open.

If you did not save your pumpkin head with a specific name, an automatically generated file name was used to save it. In order to find the file, look for a file name that contains the PID of the male version of the pumpkin head (46763029).

The Editor will open.

  ○ Load the carved face on the pumpkin head

Let’s apply changes on your pumpkin head.

A default avatar is displayed on your screen.

If you want to see your own avatar, go to the Bottom Toolbar and click Outfits .

Click the avatar you want.

The one on the screen will be substituted with the one you have chosen.

In the Materials Column you see the texture previously created, the pumpkin face.

We will load the Opacity Map and the colored texture created to get a carved pumpkin head.

Let’s start by adding the Opacity Map.

  • Select the first asset in the Materials Column and click Add.
  • Browse the folder where you saved your textures and select the Opacity Map.
  • Click Open.

Let’s add the colored texture which will be used to paint the inside of the pumpkin head.

To do so, select the next asset in the Materials Column and click Edit.

  • Browse the folder where you saved the texture and select it.
  • Click Open.

Leave the Opacity Map slot as it is, empty.

All textures are loaded, so let’s see how your avatar looks with the changes added to the pumpkin head.

To do so, click on the Apply Changes button.

After applying changes, you can save your product by clicking on the Save button.

Saving Your Product

  • You have two ways to save your work. You can use either Save (by clicking the Save button) or Save As (by clicking the small arrow to the right ).
  • Save will save your file in your IMVU Projects folder with an automatically generated file name.
  • Save As allows to use a unique file name of your choice, making your file much easier to find if you decide you want to work on it later. You can also Save As by pressing Shift + Ctrl + s.

Once you have saved your product, you can upload it to the IMVU Catalog and make money.
