Get Creative with Colors

Few clothing items are as versatile, affordable, reliable, and essential as a basic tee. Tees never go out of style, and you can make them your own with your favorite color combinations.

Below are a few ideas for inspiration.

They look cool, don’t they?

Let’s start! Follow the instructions below and you will see how easy it is to make a T-shirt with colors you’ll love.

This tutorial is part of the Creator Program. To learn more about the Creator Program, please click here.

  ○ Pick your design tool

As in the previous tutorials, either Photoshop    or Gimp   will be used. Both let you customize the color of your tee.

Click on one of the links below to get started. Completing this step is required before moving on to “Get your shirt”.

  ○ Get your shirt

Let’s see how your avatar looks with the colored tee. To do so, you need to open the project where you saved your tee (the one you made following the steps of the tutorial Making a Shirt).

Open the IMVU Desktop App and Log In. Click on the Create button.

Click on the Open a Local Project button.

The Open Panel enables you to browse your projects that are already in progress.

When you click on the Open a Local Project button, your “IMVU Projects” folder will open.

Select the shirt CHKN file and click Open.

If you did not save your tee with a specific name, an automatically generated file name was used to save it. In order to find the file, look for a file name that contains the PID of the T-shirt (34767742).

The Editor will open.

Let’s apply changes on your T-shirt.

A default avatar is displayed on your screen.

If you want to see your own avatar, go to the Bottom Toolbar and click Outfits .

Click the avatar you want.

The one on the screen will be substituted with the one you have chosen.

In the Materials Column you find the three textures previously created (front (the one with an image), back, and sleeves textures).

Let’s load all new textures.

To do so, select the “front texture” asset and click Edit.

  • Browse the folder where you saved the texture and select it.
  • Click Open.

Now, the front texture is the one you created.

Repeat the same steps for the back and sleeves textures.

Now, that all textures are loaded, let’s see how your avatar looks.

Click on the Apply Changes button.

Wow!

The T-shirt can be combined with many garments!

After applying changes, you can save your product by clicking on the Save button.

Saving Your Product

  • You have two ways to save your work. You can use either Save (by clicking the Save button) or Save As (by clicking the small arrow to the right ).
  • Save will save your file in your IMVU Projects folder with an automatically generated file name.
  • Save As allows to use a unique file name of your choice, making your file much easier to find if you decide you want to work on it later. You can also Save As by pressing Shift + Ctrl + s.

Once you have saved your product, you can upload it to the IMVU Catalog and make money!
